A quick bit of navigational info: The tabs at the top there have drop down menu's. For instance this page currently has 1 sub page. Simply scroll over it to make them appear. The button texts at some of the title sections currently have no links in them, but many of my posts and pages do indeed have active links.
My most active section is currently Archery. There are entries weekly in there, some of which are technical and educational, others that are just randomness and fun related to Archery. I have a couple entries in Sewing, and I update information on my persona page fairly regularly. Be sure to check all the different pages out!

How I found the SCA
In 1995 (or there abouts) my wonderful older sister brought me to an event. It was my first ever SCA event, taking place in the Kingdom of Caid, Barony of Gyldenholt. ((Orange County CA)) People were walking about in Medieval clothing, men were in full body armor carrying shields and huge swords made of heavy solid rattan. There were pavilions with banners flying and a "court" with a King, Queen, Baron and Baroness being attended by others. A royal court was being held, where people brought their royal majesties gifts and begged favors or requested audience. It was a fantastic and realistic display of a Medieval outdoor event.
I had gone to Renaissance Faires, and this was so different! Renn Faires had always felt fake, staged, and commercial. Not to mention those bodices were so darn uncomfortable "when worn tight and proper." The Medieval era was much more my cup of tea. And here it was! Right in front of me, and people were welcoming me with open arms! Saddly, it was the only event I really attended until many years later.
In late 2001, I had a pretty serious bad breakup. I only mention it to illustrate the kind of community that the SCA is. My friends, whom i love dearly for "rescueing" me, brought me along to a HUGE SCA event just a few days after the breakup. This event it turns out, was a WAR!!! Great Western War. The household these friends called family was from out of Kingdom. The majority of the household was from Atenveldt, House Schaudenfreude. Atenveldt is in Arizona, and I never bothered to ask why people from Caid called an Atenveldt household home.
Keeping in mind that I was pretty messed up mentally at the time, I did not notice it at the time. But looking back now, my friends must have passed the message on to the rest of the household. I was not left alone for an instant for the entire week of war. Between the household and the war staff volunteers I was gently and carefully distracted. I think I put in 80 hours of volunteer time that week, and yet still managed to see the equestrian activities, and enjoy the night time bonfire dancing. Keep busy! Best thing ever!!
And thus began my love affair with the SCA. My Persona was a Gypsy type, named Negoshka Gorodisha, however most folks called me munchkin. For about 2 years after that war, I was deeply intrenched in the Equestrian activities, and thoroughly enjoying the community of the SCA. Even after I started dating my *now husband* I stayed active, and he and I would never have come together if not for the SCA. Once we married several years later, we got a bit busy with normal life... So, babies, while totally welcome and loved in the SCA, are not the easiest to handle for equestrian events or camping events. By choice the SCA garb and tools and gear got put away. For almost 8 years actually....
This blog picks up when we returned to the SCA, in the year 2015. I hope you find my blogs entertaining, and maybe educational or informative if you have an interest in Medieval reenactment and/or the SCA in all it's aspects.
